When you are staying at your all inclusive Sandals in Antigua or elsewhere, there are many excursion options you can choose from to see and do other things off of your resort. Lou and I always feel, that as travel agents, we should explore as much as we can of the whole island.
Island Routes: Great Excursions!
Island Routes is the tour and excursion company that Sandals recommends to all of their guests when they want to go off the resort and see other parts of the Island they are on. There are so many different things you can do and see when staying at Sandals. Island Routes usually has two or three display help desks at Sandals and Beaches resorts to help you decide what you might like to do. Here is a list of some of the tours you can take.
- zip line through rain forest
- shopping at local markets and towns
- catamaran sailing trip
- dinner cruises
- Island Safaris
- swim with dolphins
- swim with sting rays
- many more ( every island has its own unique tours) Call me or send me an email, and I will be happy to give you info on the tours for the Island that your all inclusive sandals vacation is at. 877-686-0397 or email me.
Sandals had a really nice group tour set up for the agents to see the real Antigua. We drove through the city of St. Johns, Antigua’s capital city, and saw many shops and stores there, as well as a really cool market with tons of tropical fruits and vegetables! You will want to visit the two main shopping areas in St. Johns for great duty-free shopping, called Heritage Quay, Newest, or the historic shopping area, Redcliffe Quay.
We also stopped at a local fruit stand in the country, and got some fresh pineapple, mango, and guava jelly!
English Harbor: Full of History:
Our guide took us to a couple of amazing spots in Antigua with out of this world views! We went to the historic English Harbor in Shirley Heights Antigua, which was a major Caribbean port for the British navey for almost 100 years. We were able to visit a visitor center that was built on the site of an old English Fort. There were really three English outposts, that are built into the high hills and there were just breath taking views from this spot. We also visited Neslon’s Dockyard, the only original, working Georgian Dockyard in the world. At Nelson’s Docyard, there were many shops where you can shop for authentic Caribbean gifts.
